THE SIERRA 2500 HD.

Ready to tackle almost anything, the GMC Sierra 2500HD pick-up truck is offered in regular-cab, extended-cab, and crew-cab body styles, and is available as a 2WD truck or a 4x4 truck.

With a variety of V8 engines available, including a remarkably powerful DURAMAX diesel, Sierra 2500HD pickup trucks are able to tow up to 13,000 lbs or hauling a payload up to 4,212 lbs, depending upon chosen equipment and whether a 2WD or 4WD platform is required. There are many ways to outfit a GMC Sierra 2500HD heavy duty truck; ask yourself what your job requires, and the Sierra 2500HD pickup truck has an answer.

THE DURAMAX™ DIESEL ENGINE

Sierra HD's available Duramax Diesel engine is a force to be reckoned with 397 HP and 765 lb. of torque. In fact, that makes the Sierra Heavy Duty the most powerful GMC HD pickup ever. There's nothing you can throw at this engine that it can't handle and you'll have plenty of time to try. Teamed with the Allison™ transmission, this powertrain has a strong reputation, and proven track record with nearly 1.3 million sold in the last decade2. It's one powerful combination. It is also B5-B20 biodiesel compatible.

TRAILERING AND PAYLOAD

When it comes down to it, you buy a Heavy Duty pickup to haul or trailer a lot of weight. Sierra 2500HD models offer exceptional capability.

  • Maximum 13,000 lbs. conventional trailering capacity4
  • Maximum 17,800 lbs. fifth-wheel trailering capacity5
  • Maximum 4,212 lbs. payload capacity6

ALL-NEW BOXED FRAME

What does it mean to have a fully boxed, high-strength steel frame? That the backbone of our Heavy Duty lineup is more rigid, more durable and stronger where it counts most. This allows better suspension tuning as well as better ride quality. We've increased the frame strength more than 90% and torsional stiffness by a factor of five. Closed sections (boxed frames) provide stronger cross-member mounting as well, for improved frame durability at critical joints.

LARGE ROTORS

The braking system plays an integral role in many of the control systems within the Sierra HD. Everything from Trailer Sway Control, StabiliTrak®, and Intelligent Brake Assist to Standard Hill Start, all rely on braking, so we increased the rotor diameter nearly 10% to 14 inches. You'll notice improved pedal feel and shorter pedal travel.

THE GMC WARRANTY

Standard on 2012 GMC models: The 100,000-mile/5-year GMC Powertrain Limited Warranty, plus Roadside Assistance and Courtesy Transportation7.
